City of Sakura Rose Garden

The City of Sakura Rose Garden (Kusabue-no-oka Rose Garden) located 30 kilometers from Narita International Air Port and 50 kilometers from Tokyo, the capital of Japan. Sakura City is small but has a thousand years of history. The garden contains 850 varieties in all. 120 species, 600 old roses and 130 modern roses. In total, 1900 roses are carefully planted and preserved in the area of 1 hectare. This garden is designed so that visitors can systematically trace the history of the roses from the past few thousand years. We have created the garden that has been designed to allow people to appreciate the history and special characteristics of the roses. The garden is divided into 14 sections: Seizo Suzuki section, History of roses section, Species of the world section, Chinese rose section, Japanese rose section, Shade garden, White and Pink rose garden, Single rose garden, Fragrance garden, Yellow rose garden, La Bonne Maison garden, Rutoute’ garden. Visitors are able to enjoy the each section and discover the oriental taste in the selection and a Japanese touch of techniques in rose growing and garden designing. 365 days a year, from 10 to 5 o’clock in hot summer and cold winter, 3000 people a year volunteer their time and effort to design, construction, operation and management of the garden facilities. Those people preserve the roses in the garden
